The Lake District Area
Cumbria has to be one of the most beautiful corners of the United Kingdom.
The Lake District, which makes up most of Cumbria, is a land of contrasts. With dramatic mountains and tranquil lakes, peaceful valleys and gentle fells, this area is a wonderful place to be at any time of the year.
Breathe the fresh mountain air, take in the breathtaking scenery, get close to nature and appreciate the the region's wondrous diversity. Step out of your tent and into a landscape where the opportunities for outdoor adventure and fun are limitless.
Spectacular fell walking, mountain biking, rock climbing, sailing, canoeing, swimming, scrambling and more, are available all around you. You don't even need your car in most cases.
No matter what season you visit the Lakes, there are campsites to suit your needs from basic farm campsites in out of the way places, to sites offering all the facilities under the sun - shop, pub, restaurant, you name it. The choice is yours! Many of the smaller camping sites do not require bookings, allowing you to alter your plans if the weather is a little unkind. However, it's often wise to check especially during busy bank holiday periods.
The Lake District is home to the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike, as well as the longest lake, Windermere, and the deepest, Wastwater. The scenary is stunning whichever way you turn, and there is something to suit everyone.
Whether you decide to make your base in the middle of bustling Keswick or the peace and tranquility of Langdale, Eskdale or Wasdale, you will be guarenteed spectacular lake and mountain locations.
Wherever you choose, you are guarenteed one thing...a very warm Cumbrian welcome.
We look forward to seeing you in the Lake District soon!
ENJOY!
