Whoever you are the Bell Tent experience has something to offer you. One you will never forget.
What is a Bell Tent?
A tried and tested 19th century design which has stood the test of time. Originally used by the military, the design is simple; natural poly-cotton canvas hangs down from a central pole and is held in place with guy ropes, creating a delightful old-fashioned shape. Strong enough to withstand all the Lake District can throw at it, they are fully waterproof and when the sun is shining you can roll up the sides enjoy the breeze and let the outside in.
Our Bell Tents
Our Bell Tents are 5m in diameter so they are big enough for four people to sleep in quite happily. The outside cover is made from a thick poly cotton canvas, which is light, and neutral in colour. Each of the Bell tents has been raised off the ground to allow natural ventilation. With wooden floors and carpets they hold in the warmth and provide all the comfort you need for the ideal holiday.
Some things you will find in our Bell Tents;
- Wood burning stove with hot plate for those additional cooking needs.
- Solar fairy lights to add that little extra bit of magic on your holiday.
- Solar lighting; lights the Bell Tent up like a large lantern.
- Comfortable futon style beds enough to sleep four people, consisting of two single beds and one double bed which conveniently and easily turn into seating during the day. A blow up mattress can be supplied for an additional person if required.
- A fully equipped and functional kitchen including all the things you are likely to need for four people to cook and dine with.
- Gas hobs and grill, no charge for gas.
- Sides that roll up enabling you to let the beauty of the outside in.
- Windows, allowing natural light and some fresh Lake District air in.
- For fun with all the family or friends why not try out our bon-fire kitchen. Situated just outside each bell tent it’s somewhere between the wild west and Windermere.
- Clean toilets and shower facilities (new facilities installed in 2011)
Unfortunately we do not accept dogs.
In addition our Bell Tents are furnished with a traditional British Lake District feel, consisting of bunting, bright rugs and throws and furniture to make you feel completely relaxed and away from it all.
