Luxury Lake District Yurts at Low Wray on Lake Windermere

"A truly magical experience" is how some of our guests have described staying in one of our Yurts. Situated right in the heart of the Lake District National Park on the banks of England's largest natural lake, on the quiet western shore of Lake Windermere you couldn't ask for a more idyllic location. Surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery the Lake District has to offer, come and experience 'living in the round' for yourselves and enjoy a unique holiday in a unique environment.

Long Valley Yurts offer the perfect combination of back-to-nature living, without compromising on all the usual luxuries you would wish for on your holiday. Spacious with comfortable beds, warm duvets, cosy wood burning stoves and lanterns, this really is luxury camping or 'Glamping' as we like to call it! Ideal for families and friends, come and experience a holiday with a difference, one you never forget.

The Yurt at Low Wray provides and an excellent base for fell walking, mountain biking, sailing and canoeing or just simply relaxing. On the shores of Winderemere with views across to Ambleside and the Fairfield Horseshoe this really is a spectacular location.

What is a Yurt
Yurts are traditional circular dwellings from central Asia that have been in use for thousands of years. The traditional yurt is decorated in colourful materials, handmade rugs and carpets. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter the yurt itself is supported with solid wooden trellis walls and has at its centre, a crown or Tono (ornate 'roof wheel') to further strengthen the structure. Covered with a thick, watertight covering the yurt keeps you dry and warm in any weather.

Our Yurts
We have one 16ft Yurt which sleeps four people comfortably. There is a standard double bed and two single beds and an additional blow up mattress for a fifth person if required. We provide freshly laundered cotton sheets, pillow cases and duvets.

Yurt Facilities
Each yurt has it's own uniquely Moroccan feel. You can also expect the following facilities;

  • Wooden floors
  • Thick colourful hand made Moroccan rugs
  • Wood burning stove with hot plate for cooking
  • Solar powered interior lighting
  • Solar powered interior fairy lights
  • Comfortable futons and bedding
  • Moroccan lanterns
  • Decorated, colourful Moroccan throws and poufs
  • Fully equipped with all cooking and cleaning facilities
  • A games chest full of games and books both old and new
  • Clean toilets and shower facilities

Drinking water is available from a tap within a short walk. Each yurt comes fully equipped with its own rolling water carrier. Male and female shower blocks and toilet facilities also only a short walk.

Unfortunately we do not accept dogs.
